Summer holidays on a spectrum…

My name is Christos and I am from… Europe! What I always wanted, was to express myself & be creative. On my way here, I acquired knowledge through the Eurovision Song Contest, Mass Media, NGOs and Tourism Industry. I have been matched with my #TerminaLifestyle in such a degree, that probably only Tom Hanks in his “The Terminal” role, knows the feeling! Maybe, I was an air steward in my previous life – or simply, the aircraft itself! I have travelled a lot around Europe during my summer holidays. I am sure that you have done that too! But have you ever stopped to consider how much our societyai??i??s stereotypes influence our own holidays?

Everyone makes plans for their vacations. Usually the destination does not matter, as long as we travel with good friends, right? It seems that just a few take the initiative to travel alone. I am one of them. I always travel alone.

Although, I have to confess that recently my cousin made a very good point when he claimed the opposite: ai???You never spend any holidays alone. You always make new friends. You are too extrovert.ai???Ai??

And thereai??i??s truth to this! I do make new friends. However, I consider myself rather too introverted to share my holidays 24/7 with others. I cannot stand spending my holidays according to someone elseai??i??s mood and ai???scheduleai???. I still consider holidays as a great opportunity to spend more time with myself. And after 11 months of social overdose, I do need a detox. This is where I got confused.

Niki Barpagianni, clinical psychologist and life coach, who has been actively involved in mental health services for the last seven years, has a lot to say about this trend. The terms ai???introvertai??? and ai???extrovertai??? are bandied around a lot, but are we actually aware of what these two terms mean?

Ms Barpagianni comments: ai???The main difference between introverts and extroverts is that the first have 1867 testosterone healthbuy. an inward focus, while the second an outward one. Introverts tend to be more introspective, whereas extroverts tend to be preoccupied with their social environment (people, surroundings etc.).ai???

On how this is translated into our holidaying habits, she points out: free cialis sample pack, free cialis sample pack, free cialis sample pack, free cialis sample pack, free cialis sample pack, free cialis sample pack. ai???Introverts may be more likely to pursue solitary type of holidays and are easily drained by social encounters. Perhaps visiting a calm place, where they can devote more time to their internal thoughts, viagra soft online, viagra soft online, viagra soft online, viagra soft online, viagra soft online, viagra soft online, viagra soft online, viagra soft online, viagra soft online, viagra soft online, viagra soft online, viagra soft online, viagra soft online, viagra soft online, viagra soft online, viagra soft online, viagra soft online, viagra soft online. engage in truly creative, solitary activities and spend time with a strict number of people with whom they feel at ease, is the ideal type of holiday for an introvert.”

Extroverts on the other hand, are more open to novelty and social connection. Therefore, they are more likely to pursue a type of holidays where they can mingle with large groups of people, make new acquaintances, and try exciting activities, different tastes, new sounds etc, order doxycycline, order zithromax. she adds.

The psychologist points out, however, that behavior and personality are not one and the same: ai???We must take into consideration that a personai??i??s behavior should be also examined in the context in which it takes place and not only be attributed to his personality. Hence, a person who appears as an introvert may show more extrovert type of behavior and vice versa in specific circumstances.”

“For instance, during holidays an extrovert may need some time off, take a break to relax and read a book alone and an introvert may be driven to a local festivity, talk to strangers and try new flavors in order to spend quality time with his friends.ai???

I have come to realise that there is no right or wrong way to spend our holidays. The stereotype of spending our summer holidays in a Mediterranean island, while having wild parties with a bunch of people, has perhaps convinced the younger generation that thereai??i??s a one-way road to happiness.

But why should we constrain ourselves in such a way?Ai?? Holidays are the moment to spend time with loved ones, with friends, for meeting new people and, maybe, letting your hair down! But they are also invaluable for taking moments for yourself, to indulge in some ai???time outai??? and self-reflection.

Next time you go on holiday why not bring out your inner introvert, go off the grid, cut your access to email, Facebook and Twitter and ai??i?? who knows ai??i?? as well as having a true break, you might also have some extrovert moments too!
